dentinger -> trunk rattle (12/30/2006 11:42:05 PM)

ok, so i have 2 12's in the trunk of my '07 mazda3 (sedan), and something is rattling like crazy....i dont mind it, cuz i cant hear it inside the car (not really anyways) but its the people outside that can hear it, which makes it sound like shit...

it has a metallic rattle, like, metal on metal maybe....
i've already fixed the license plate rattle, and i know it's not the spare tire and jacking equipment, because the stock carpeting insulates the bass no problem...
and i've tried putting some e-tape and foam around the trunk edge, but that did nothing, as well as the trunk lock device....

so does anyone have any idea??
or any idea of how to fix it??
and btw, im leasing, so dynomatting is outta the question.....

I'd say it's the metal on the trunk lid around teh places where it isn't welded.  do you not want to dynomat because it will affect your lease turn in or just because you don't want to spend the $$?  if it is the latter of the two you could always try the ice blocker stuff available at hardware stores.  looks almost the same and acts the same.  it's a black membrane that goes on just like dynomat, they use it under house shingles to guard aginst ice dam damage.

i dont know....
cuz when i open the trunk lid, the rattle stops.....
i think it might be the plastic part where the latch is....like, all along there, cuz when i push on it, the rattle kinda stops....

and the reason why i dont want to dynamat my trunk is that im pretty sure it'll void my warranty on my lease....
i'd ask mazda myself, but i dont think they'd be too happy that i put subs into their car....
