Greetings all.
I have just replaced the somewhat inadequate bulbs in the headlights of my 5. I opted for the OSRAM silverstars.  The difference is incridible.
I got them from a wonderful young lady at http://www.A1AutoBulbs.co.uk.
Melissa is so efficient, she can tell you which bulbs you need and can manage to sort your order with the minimum of fuss.  Even over the Christmas holidays.
She actually got back to me on Boxing day.

I would reccomend her and her products 100%

I had Mazda install those headlights with the same ones that you mentioned and, if anything, it's not as good as the OE that came with it. The low beam lens seems to be the problem. High beams are great but the low beams have a definite cut off line if you pull up to a garage door and check them.

I don't have any problem with the low beams with the new bulbs.
The low beam cut off was a problem with the original bulbs, which is why I changed them.
In fact when I fitted them and compared them to the marks I made with the originals, (much higher).
I feared that I would be constantly dazzling oncoming traffic, so I had the alignment checked at the garage.  Fortunatley they were fine.  but significantly higher cut off than the originals.
Have you ajusted the beam level?  It is a roller switch to the rhs of the steering wheel.

Cannot remember of the top of my head, but if you email Melissa, she will help you get the right bulb for your model.

Having driven at night in the 5 recently, I am realising how bad the OEM dip beams are.

Looking at changing the bulbs and have seen a very good review of the Philips Extreme White bulbs.

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/212994/philips_xtreme_power.html

Has anyone tried these?

Cheers
Rob

If they are quads, and I believe they are, they should be the same as the ones in the States.  H7 low beam/9005 high beam.
