During some repairs/diagnostics on the 2.0 LX ... i had a fuel pressure gauge hooked up and noticed i didn't get any fuel pressure during key on/ Eng. off. Once it was cranking... went right to 38psi. I went hounding for the Fuel Pump relay and couldn't find it. Any idea where that thing is? Also is this normal? I can't hear the pump whirring or anything... the check valve is working ok cause it holds pressure for 1/2 hour at least and it starts perfectly. Also... once i find the relay, is there a check to do to make it come on by jumping leads or something? thanks

I have a 1989 mazda 626, thanks to this forum I finally found the place to jumper the fuel pump. On mine it is a small yellow connector with two wires, connected to nothing. Mine just hangs down against the driver side strut tower. Hope this helps.

Could somebody please explain this in a little more detail? This could help others of us with our situations, as well. I've got lots of "connectors.. connected to nothing" under there (that I usually just don't mess with). One of them is bright yellow near the driver side strut tower as described! Do I understand that you run a patch from one terminal to the other (on the same connector)? ..or one of these to ground? And this will do what; bypass the fuel pump relay and cause the fuel pump to run full time? (with the ignition at ON, I assume) Thanks
