I purchased a used,04,6S, auto a few weeks ago in Alburquerque, NM. As I live in Amarillo, Tx I had to drive the 200 miles or so back home (straight east) on I-40. Filled when I got home and I was pleasantly surprised that I had gotten almost 30 MPG. Of course it helped a little bit that the wind was blowing 50 MPH straight out of the west. 25 to 26 is the best I can do now.

I'm averaging 23.5 mpg overall with my V6 Sportwagon, 25-26 on long road trips.

Just got back from a 1000 mile weekend in my 2006 mazda6 with 3.0L.  Drove 80 with A/C on the whole way.  Avg. 26.5.  Got the computer reprogramed at the day before at the Mazda dealer because the car would hesitate from standstill.

I recently just bought a 2004 mazda 6s with a V6 220hp. When i bought it had 31,000 miles. As you know it holds 18 gallons of fuel.  i just filled up on gas a few days ago and drove roughly 200miles and i have a 1/4 tank left. im driving about 60% city and 40% on the highway but there is some stop and go.  On a 2004 in the city i should be getting 17-19 and on the highway 24-29. But im geting about 14. Im not flooring it or anything stupid. 3 days ago i checked the oil to see if was dirty. so i took off the filter and it looked ok so i tiightened it back up. ( and yes i know the dealer recomends they do it, because they have a special wrench or something) so i turn the car on and the filter shoots off so i had to put a new filter and oil. After doing so my car began smoking from the back and front probally because there was oil burning.  this problem stopped today. I no this is long but if your still reading, do you have any ideas why im getting such bad gas milleage.

How is your air filter?  That might help some, but I don't know what it could be.  You shuld be getting something like 20mpg mixed driving.  Have you had the fuel injectors cleaned?
