I put the factory mudflaps on to make sure I protected the paint on the doors from chips. Well, last weekend we had our first snow and they put cinders on the road. I drove 20 miles in it. Now the paint at the bottom of the doors is so peppered with paint chips it looks frosted white. In only 20 miles! My toyota supra wouldn't have that many in 10 years, nor would my Magnum, or any other car I've ever had. I'm going to get this covered under warranty eventhough it does not cover stone chips. The intent of the warranty is for a reasonanble amount of chips over a period of time. This is Extremely excessive which wuld be classified as a defect in either fender, door, or mudflap design. So if you want to save your paint and not go through this, add some big extenders to those front mudflaps!

Do you have any pics of the damage?

The rear flap looks large enough to work. But the front ones are only marginally larger than stock and yes I an see that it would not stop a lot of gravel etc...

I agree with the bad front mudflap design. We have around 2500 miles on ours, and we already have 2 good size stone chips on the drivers side. It's almost as if the lower door paint is too brittle.

Yes the rear ones are sufficiently large to actually do some good

The front are barely larger than stock and offer no better protection.  I guess they thought larger ones would look bad.

But how bad do rock chips look?

So I avoid rocky roads or I go extremely slow.  If I must go some where there are gravel/dirt roads I take our Turbo Baja and its mud flaps work.
