My milly s has 41000 miles and I am told by dealer that I need new brakes. I assume they mean pads and turn rotors etc. They told me to stay away from Midas and Meinecke because they do not use Mazda pads and cut the rotors too much. Any advise out there? Should I have Mazda do the job?

it could very well be that you need brakes. however, there are wear indicators on the pads. when the pads wear down to where they need replacing, you will hear a screeching sound when you brake. this is a thin piece of metal on each pad that will rub on the brake disc when the pad is about worn out. ask your dealer if the pads are down to the wear indicators. i think they are trying to sell you work. and they are partially correct, stock pads on the millenia are ceramic. they are rotor friendly, and do an excellent job. some places do not yet use ceramic pads, and some ceramic pads are junk. akebono is oem for mazda, and they are excellent. also, each brake disc will have a minimum thickness on it, you can measure them yourself. and again, they could be correct, lots of places disregard the minimum thickness, and cut them too thin. then, you get warpage.
