Hi, guys. I'm a 6-month owner of Mazda5 2006 sp. I faced a fatal scare last Friday. When stopped in an intersection waiting for the traffic light my car suddenly went back all by itself. The pedal break didn't work at all and everything was out of order. The car directly rushed back and could't be stopped untill I pulled the emergency break up. And after I turned off all the power and restarted it again, it seemed to turn normal and went on forward. I was very calm when I found this kind of craziness and I remembered clearly I didn't touch anything but hold my wheel when I was waiting for the red light. Then I was very shocked and upset, because you know, it occurred in about 5 pm, just the off-work time and in the middle of a main traffic lane. Now I have already sent it to the service and no one knows and even hears of this kind of problem. Does anybody find the same problem as mine?

I came back from the service just now. The service man said they couldn't check out any problem but they said the cause of this accident was the lowered break oil level. Does this explanation make sense to anybody? My Mazda5 only has 2518 miles. I really need help.

Low fluid level would mean a leak, probably caused the abs to malfunction and negated your ability to use the brakes.

Am assuming that the vehicle just rolled backward and did not self shift into reverse. Is this correct??
If your brake master cylinder ran out of fluid due to a leak as s1eeper has suggested then I hope they actually did look for a leak or other reason why the brake resevoir would suddenly become empty on a vehicle with only 2518 mile. Brake hydrulic fluid just does not evaporate you know.
