Hello great Mazda forum. I have a 98 Mazda B2500 Pickup. 170k miles and running great. but....I need my AC back. I was able to get a 2nd hand compressor at low cost, but how easy or difficult is it to replace?? are there just fittings??? theres now brazing involved is there??? any pointers or thoughts would be great....Ed

Compressor replacement is quite easy with the right tools. I cannot give specific info on how to do your truck but general info. If you still have freon in the system, it needs to be recovered before dismantling anything. The hoses should come off easily, usually a manifold assembly holds them on with removal of a bolt or two. It would be best to replace the oriface tube too while the system is open. If you get this far and have everything replaced, you will need a vacuum pump to evacuate the system prior to charging. But for the question of brazing and cutting lines, the answer is no.
