I would appreciate hearing form anyone who has figured out how to disable the annoying bright blue high beam indicator and red tachometer lights on the tach dial face. As well as turning the main instrument lights down even more than the factory settings.

Take the bulb out or cover the lit area with black tape (classy)

 

oneamous, What car do you have?
If the electroluminecent dash lighting, have you tried the push-button switch on the upper left, between the tach and speedo? If you're only using the rheostat, you're right, it doesn't do much.
Check you owners manual for further instructions.
Also, the "annoying bright blue high beam indicator" is going to be a requirement for state inspection.
