Smile Stopping by to say HI! <3

hey everyone jus stopped in to say hi! im new to mazda forum. i have a 03 mazda protege. i love my car.. but he does not love me all that much! lol i think hes mad cuz i want a new car. my reason for coming on here is because well i blew my engine and i am in the process of replacing it. if you think you can help please contact me! thanks!!

hi , oooo ouch , blown engine , that's very bad. 03 Protege, huh , are you upgrading the engine or just looking to get back on the road. need specific info on directoin you're heading.

It's the second time, she claims.
I thought the P5 engine was an interference engine? No contact between the piston and valves.
Am I wrong about that? Anybody?

i bent the valve and yes.. there isnt supposed to be any contact with the piston and valve. it comes close but doesnt hit.. but the valve was open when the piston hit it.

oh and im not upgrading.. jus getting back on the road. so far i got the old engine out (did that today) putting the new one in tomorrow.. well getting started on it.

That makes it a non-interference engine, meaning no clearance between the piston top and the valves when the timing belt breaks.

okay.. i dont know much bout it. i love cars and i havent worked on em or done a WHOLE lotta research on em.. and i am a chic.. not a lot of chics know much bout cars lol but i am learning. thanks tho! i learned something. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!
