Transmission - Rear main seal leak

Transmission - Rear main seal leak
I recently took my '06 Mazda 6 in for an oil change, and was informed that I have a "rear main seal leak". I bought my car new, it now has 52k (2k more than the warranty of course). It's my understanding that this problem shouldn't be occurring until much later. Dealer says it's a $30 part but $1100 in labor.
Any suggestions? Has anyone else run into this problem? Nobody wants to shell out $1100 for repairs when they're still paying on their car.

Rear Main Seal should pertain to the engine & not the trans. Take the car to another repair shop & have them look at it. If you have the V6, it could be the oil pan gasket that is leaking. Those are known to be leakers. If it is the rear main, the trans will have to be removed to get to it.
