New Mazda 6S Hatchback Pics
Hey everyone,
Just bought a 2005 Smoke Grey Mazda 6S Hatchback with Bose/moonroof, black leather, cargo net, door edge guards, compass autodim mirror, MSRP: $US 28,740. I got it for $20,500, did I get a good deal? I've racked up 1,000 miles in 3 weeks!
Couple of issues:
1- Acceleration is slow at first (and slow reaction), have to let the car roll a bit, or give it a kickdown.
2- Car feels strange coasting between 30 and 40 MPH.
Otherwise, car really handles well, some road noise though... it really picks up if you hit the pedal after that, even at at 60 or 70 MPH...
I like the Manual shifter, makes it more fun to drive, but still trying to calibrate 1st and 2nd gears...
I also keep kicking off the fuse box cover!!!!!
Otherwise no other issues. Have any of you heard of any recalls or fixes for 05's?

So that's what happened to my fuse box cover! (I bought a pre-owned 2005 and the fusebox cover was missing)
When you say the car 'feels strange' coasting between 30 - 40 mph, what specifically do you mean?
Love the manual shifter, too. Great for going up inclines or pulling out in traffic.

Have you takin the tcs button. It makes a noticeable differance in pickup. As for the noise, I forgot the reson why its a little loud. Think it has something to do with there being less noise dampanong material or something. And I lost my fuse cover box too.

I tried driving without TCS... didn't notice much of a difference.... have to try it longer maybe. I am driving more with the manual trans; it's quicker and much more fun and controllable. It's just sluggish when you try to launch the car normally without a kickdown.
As for the fuse box cover I keep kicking it off when I rest my foot on the dead pedal or when getting in or out of the car... then I pick it up and toss it in the back seat... it's not really an "issue" but it's starting to tick me off! Have to be less of a klutz.
Do any of you get a lot of fogging up on all the glass when the AC is running? Maybe it's Florida weather...
Ps. what do you recommend using to care for the interior...dash, leather seats....?
Anyone recomend the wind deflector?

i just used a rain-x container which prevents fogging on the interior glass. works very well and you dont have to use your defrosters to clear up the glass. only problem is trying to apply just enough so that it doesnt get all smeary and then you have to take some of it off the window with a towel and water.

There is an update for the 3.0l for the delayed throttle response available now. It involves recalibrating the PCM and TCM together. Maybe the fuse box cover has been broken. They should fit on fairly tight but if were removed wrong at some point can be easy to break. Warranty should be able to cover a new one for you if it is broken.

oh i gotcha, yeah the rain-x works pretty good. doesnt completely eliminate the fogging up of the windows but you can definitely notice the difference when you apply it
