Default Help my crazy car!

I have an 04 mazda6 3.0 with 77000 miles on it. A few weeks ago I was driving down the road and it just shut off. I started it back up and it seemed to be fine. Then today in the 110 degree weather it decided to start shuttering and hesitating and randomly dieing. It would start back up, drive a few miles and then die again. There are no warning lights on so we think it has something to do with fuel system, relay or pump. We took the pump apart and cleaned the NASTY filter. There was also trash in the tank. It seems to be ok now but It has only been driven 15 miles since we cleaned it. The pump is a $500 part so I thought I would see if anyone else had this happen before I made the leap? Thanks so much.
