new clutch that has "slight" chirping noise when depressed
Hi all, its my first post so please go easy on me.
My wife owns the 5 and the clutch needed replacing. She in her "expert" knowledge opted for a home enthusiast mechanic to change it. I didnt like the idea but she wanted to do it this way.....
So the guy has done really well, changed it without lifting gear and did it in 16 hours.
The new clutch is a LUK and works well BUT there is a slight issue:
there is a high pitched slight chirping noise that goes away when we press the clutch pedal down. then it comes back as soon as the pedal is released.
i am sure its not quite right, can anyone offer some pointers to help me have an educated conversation with him in the troubleshooting?
thanks

Did they replace the release bearing with a new 1?
Did they clean & lube where the release bearing slides?
I assume the noise wasn't there before replacing the clutch?

I have had the same issue. Did you ever get to the bottom of what it was? I even went as far as to change the clutch slave Cylinder as i read somewhere that was a problem but still not fixed the noise. Still chirping 😔

even if the "Chirping" Noise is intermittent? Doesnt make sense that a bearing makes noise just now and again. Usually if a bearing is worn or faulty the noise surley would happen all the time? Thats what baffling me.. Surely a brand new LUK clutch kit cant be faulty after just a few hundred miles?
i rang the parts supplier and they said its unlikely as in 20years of working there he has never known an LUK clutch to come back. I cant be the first one? Surley im not that unlucky!
Ps. Thank you for replying!! This is REALLY wrecking my head 😫😫

its an intermittent noise though. Surely if the realease bearing was faulty it would be all the time right? is there anything else this could be? Thanks

If your shadetree mechanic didn't replace the throwout bearing, THROW HIM OUT. No one goes to the trouble of pulling a tranny and uses the old throwout NO MATTER what the reason was.
It's dumber than changing the oil and using the old filter. Just a LOT harder to fix.
