Default Shocks update

Okay, so the owner of Courtenay Mazda said he would call us by Monday. We moved our appointment at Canadian Tire from Sunday Morning to today. (I had to take time off work to accommodate Mazda in case they wanted to make it right).

Of course he never called us back. Seriously? That's pretty bad - and this was the owner too, not some part timer who doesn't give a crap about his job.

Anyways, we went and had the Monroe shocks installed this morning. The car is riding perfectly again. Its nice to know also that if they bust (which I don't think they will) that the lifetime warranty will be there to replace them.

Good Bye Courtenay Mazda. I also wrote a blog post to vent with

Another Mazda Engineering Marvel that Mazda does not support.
You did get very good shocks and at a cheaper price.
I wouldn't be surprised if you get a call within a few days and he asks you if you got the shocks changed, after he hears you got them changed then he will say "well i had to make a few phone calls first be we were going to change your shocks" --- yeah right.
Good Luck.

Good call, I bet that happens!! If he does call, I will lie and say I didnt do them, then tell him I don't want them working on my car, but I will take the shocks, then I can sell them on ebay. LOL

We had the right hand rear replaced 1 year ago. It was leaking badly and the mechanic showed us the original part with Ford stamped on it. He fitted a replacement and that has now gone.

I think it isn't the shocks themselves but the way the rear suspension geometry is setup, which also has a bad effect on rear tyre wear.

The rear tyres and shocks wear too quickly due to the setup Mazda have chosen in order to impress the road testers with good handling for the size of car.

I think we just have to live with it.

Maybe someone should experiment with new springs?
Thoughts?
