Default Mazda 5 cam belt change?

Hello all,
I have had my 07 Mazda 5 2.0sport for a year now it has done 55k miles. I was wondering when i would have to change my cam belt and was told it was a cam chain and would last the life of the car. Is this correct advice any comment or help to confirm this would be appreciated
Cheers

Your car has a timing chain, no belt change needed.

Consider it verified.
Actually, I believe that is stated in the owners manual. You might take a quick look. (<<< I am joking of course. If yours is anything like ours it's over 70 pages long with all sorts of legal disclaimers to fill the pages.) However, that said, I DID read mine from cover to cover shortly after purchasing my car 6 yrs ago.

I didn't mean it that way, gravesrider, only that you might find the information in your manual/handbook. I was not trying to offend or embarrass you.

the petrols are chains and the diesels are belts (according to the owners book)

No diesel Mazda's are available in the US/North America so our manuals do not cover that possibility.

And in addition, my manual states that "the chain should not need to be changed for the life of the engine," whatever that is or might be? I'm guessing approximately 200,000 miles.

it would be nice to have a 2.0 turbo diesel here in the States. Kinda annoyed that there are not any options for diesel engines here... but oh well... what can you do...
