I am currently trying to purchase a car. and really wanting a Mazda 3. I want something sporty and fun. I was leaning toward the 3 S, But the 3 i doesnt seem to be a ton different in specs. I am looking between 2002-2005 year wise. Ive never really looked at Mazdas before. So really what i am asking, is what is the more bang for my buck? Mazda 3 s or 3 i? And are Mazdas pretty easily customizable?

Thank you

PS. This is a very important question. How are they in the snow. I live in the Midwest so it can be a long winter.

Get the Mazda 3s!
I have an 08 Mazda 3s (2.3) and I love it. If your looking to mod your car, then the 2.3 is more easily modded. Most parts such as intakes, turbos and etc are usually for the 2.3 liter only.
Plus, the 3s comes with better wheels, steering wheel, interior, shift ****, and more!

PaxRoman, why do you say that? The 2010 Mazda 3s GT is an excellent car. I have the 08 (later model, I guess they refer to it as the 08.5), s Sport. Bought as a leftover in April 09. Is it the SMILEY Grille?

It's the 2010's and later that have the off-putting (to many) "Smiley Face" grill.

Well yes I hate the grill and they basiclly turned a great Mazda into a
ford focus and I really hate the tear end more than the front.. The instrument
panel is also horrid I kinda like the speed though but I would
never trade my 08 for a 10 I do like that they put a 2.5 in the new one
but they can never just stop they always go to far and turn the car into
a bi polar happy on the front and angry in the back look at the tail lights
it looks mad lol but none the less it's a Mazda so zoom zoom and take the
Mazda 2 with ya yuk lol just venting happy driving

Uh, same drive train (2.3L) in the Speeds. Only the N/A's get the 2.5L and its really not worth it imo. 0.2L = 10hp???

Agreed. The new grill is goofy looking. It looks too cartoony. I much prefer the styling of the first generation.
