Default New 3 have 2 questions

Hi everybody, I just bought a used 2005 mazda 3 5 door. I just joined the forums, because I thought it would be a great resource. For my first post I have 2 question about my new 3. My first is about start up. When I start the car it sounds tiny, which means it almost sounds like someone shaking a soda can with a penny in it. Not sure if its serious or anything to worry about. My second question is about the transmission (automatic). When I first start the car and begin to drive, the car jumps from 1st to 2nd. after about 5 minutes of driving when I slow down then speed up again this problem seems to go away. Also wondering if this seems to be a major problem. I hope someone can help me, and I hope to utilize this forum and contribute as I may. Thanks Again.

be weary of the transmission i've already gone through one of them at 90,000 miles and my front differential was quote unquote by deal "literally turning to dust" i have a 2.0 with the 4spd atx. Luckily i had the 100,000 mile warranty so i only paid 100 bucks for a brand new tranny

And I'm wondering if your soda can is the idler pully going/gone bad?
It hasn't happened to mine, but it is not all that uncommon either.
Another potential problem is the RS (passenger) motor mount. It's fluid filled in the 2.3L cars and has a tendancy to leak all the fluid out.

And BTW: Welcome aboard f16cla1. (Wish I know what that handle was all about?)

What do you mean by that? Also how did you put a picture next to your name. I'd like to post a pic of my car.....even though it's purple...which was not my choice but the miles and price on it were good. anyway thanks for the insight on my questions.

It's just that it's an unusual screen name (f16cla1) and I was wondering where it came from/how you came up with it. That's all.
The pic is an avatar. I don't know if they've fixed that problem yet for regular members, but try to access it through your user control panel (User CP.) There's a link to it on the upper LS of most pages, including this one.
If that doesn't work, send me a link and I can install it for you.
Purple in '05? Do you mean it's Strato Blue Mica, which is a dark blue that looks kinda' purple in some light? Not my favorite color either, but oh well, a deal is a deal and sometimes ya' just gotta' settle for what you can get.

You hit the color on the head. I wanted the brighter blue, what is it winners blue or something like that. As for the screen name its basically just my initials, and I'm into planes so its a plane. Basically I made it when I was 12 and haven't changed it and use it for everything cause its easier that way...even though its a little corny.

Ah! Winning Blue Mica. The trademark color for the 3 series when it first came to north America. Nice color. I don't know why they ever discontinued it.

I had a similar problem 2 months ago, and the dealer had to replace the transmission module.
It was still under warranty so it cost me nothing.
Bob.

well everyone keeps saying that it was a warranty covered fix, which is great because I did get the 100,000 mile warranty on it so I feel relieved.
