Hi,

Can someone who has a 2009 Mazda 3 with stock Sirius Satellite radio please post a pic of the antenna. I would like to see how it looks and where it's mounted on the car. Thanks for the help.

 

I have a hatchback and mine is mounted just in front of the hatch in the middle of the roof, no pictures of it and it is parked at work right now.

 

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me if there are any exposed antenna wires or does everything look nice and clean? Was it dealer installed?

 

The wire goes right into the gap at the hatch, then the wire is tucked into the rubber molding.
The only time you can see a little of the wire is when the hatch is open.
BTW I don"t have the factory in mine yet, butI will after the beginning of the year and I will put the other in the wifes Explorer.

As to where it's installed that mostly depends on the installer. For instance the Mazda instructions for installing on a sedan puts the antenna on the forward left of the trunk lid. Looks terrible in that location AFAIC.

Thanks for the pic. Are you telling me that the Sirius antenna will just sit on the top of the trunk lid? That would look terrible!

 

On my F150 it is under the cowl in the front.
I myself and going to see about putting mine under the spoiler to hide it better, although the Mazda now does get better reception than the F150 with it hidden.

 

The antenna has a magnetic base, so it will sit wherever you put it. And yes I agree it looks like crap just sitting on the edge of the trunk lid. I'd personally install mine somewhere around where the one in that picture is.... perhaps with less wire.

I dont have a Sirius but I do have XM. I use to put the antenna on the top of car but after a few months it would scratch the paint. Now I just routed and tucked away the wire and put it on the dash far left corner and it works GREAT. I looks fine you dont even notice it.
