Default Hatchback Headlight Assembly

I have a 2004 Mazda3 with 90k miles on it and the headlights look really bad. Super faded and corroded. I want to replace both the left and right complete headlight housing. Funny enough the cost of the headlights for the 4dr sedan is about half the cost of the 5dr hatchback. Can someone confirm that indeed the part numbers are different between the 4dr and the 5dr? I guess I just need to know if the sedan headlights will fit properly on my hatchback. seems logical but I'm not sure. I would also be super appreciative if someone could direct me to a good purchase location. eBay pricing is about $180 for the sedan pair and $350 for the hatchback pair.

Sorry, the sedan and hatchback use different headlight housings and they're not interchangeable. You can use a headlight housing from any '04-'09 hatchback (regular or speed) if that helps you find replacements.

Is it the exterior of the housings that looks nasty? Scratched, yellowed, etc.? If so you can just have the lenses polished and they'll look good as new. You can get headlight restoration kits from auto parts stores, however they give mixed results. If you have a corded drill (or good batteries) you can use a drill to polish your lights. It's best if you can have the lenses clear coated after polishing them to restore the original UV protection, otherwise they'll just get dingy again in a few months after they're polished.
