Default Fuel Economy for the first 5.5 weeks and 3,301 miles...

Car: 2009 Mazda3 i Touring Value Edition 5-Speed

Worst tank: 1,809-2,129 miles (319.9 net) 11.480 gallons 27.87 mpg
- - Notes: Includes lots of local driving and sub zero temperatures.

Best tank: 2,895-3,301 miles (406.1 net) 12.389 gallons 32.78 mpg
- - Notes: 85% highway, mostly on cruise control set at 70 mph, temperatures in the high thirties/low forties.

Overall: 3,301.4 miles 110.024 gallons 30.01 mpg

Given that the engine is still far from being broken in (from a fuel economy perspective), and given that the temperatures have often been well below freezing, I am thinking that a 30 mpg overall average is pretty good for a car used for a daily commute to and from work.

I have gotten as high as 37MPG and as low as 26MPG, but on the average I am getting pretty close to what you are with my MTX and 30% in town driving, all highway I have not been below 33.5 MPG.

2.3? wouldnt that make your car an "s" touring and not an "i" touring? Last I checked all i models were 2.0 and s models were 2.3.

But yeah for a 2.3 auto that is really good.
