Default To Bose or not to bose...

Ok I need some feedback on the quality of the bose speaker system that comes with the moonroof package. In my current car (a '99 626) and past cars I have always upgraded to a pioneer deck and 4-way pioneer speakers in front and back with a 1000w 4way amp to power it all. No subs, but subs arent necessary unless you want your neighbors to know you're coming.
Anyway I have been looking to buy a CWP mazda 3 grand touring and at first I was impressed with the idea of a bose sound system... then i realized it was only a 222w system....
So now I'm wondering if I shouldn't just nix the bose audio (though i really want to moonroof) and get standard speakers so I can upgrade them myself to the level of sound I am used to in my cars.

HELP! I need input from people who have the bose system and have audiophilic tendencies. Are you satisfied with the bose system? Does it sound good at high volumes (low distortion)? Do you wish you could upgrade it??

my mazda6 has bose and it is nothing that impressive. it sounds amazing when compared to a chevy cobalt's sound system haha. but IMO, i would stay away from bose and just upgrade the sound system.

it all comes down to how much you really want that moonroof. from my experience with upgrading a mazda6, you need to replace the amplifier or else the vehicle sound system will sound like crap no matter how nice of speakers you put in. the amplifier is made only for the bose speakers and nothing else. besides, if you get that package, you can always just upgrade the system anyway and then revert it back to stock when you want to sell it.

in my opinion, the bose system is of worse quality than the standard stereo system. the eq adjustment of lows, mids, and highs on the standard stereo serves its purpose well.

are you required to get the bose system with the moonroof through your dealership? i have a functional moonroof and the standard stereo on my 2004.

not to bose. Not worth the money and hassle. I say just change the speakers, the head unit and get a decent system with maybe a 8' sub or 10' sub....thats what i am doing except that i am keeping the stock unit in[:'(]. Like Lupae mentioned try to get one with moonroof but without the boo system.
