Hello all! I have 2001 Tribute ES with the V6 in it. It seems to be using oil and I can smell it when I shut the car off. Anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be? The car has 138,000 on it. Oil Plug seems to be fine but I can't tell where it would be leaking. If anyone has had this problem and has suggestions please help me out! Would love to get this thing running perfectly for a few more years!

 

I should also note, I don't notice any puffs of smoke or just smoking in general coming from exhaust or under the hood. I also don't really drive that far pretty much 15 miles to and from work everyday and my gas mileage doesn't seem to be good. It seems like it has been falling faster lately but maybe that is my imagination. I will have to actually calculate it.

 

Buckeye....My first thought would be the oil pan gasket.

Thank you Manhattan! I looked and it looks like oil is down there some. Has this been a known issue for these cars?

 

It seems to be fairly common..mine had the same issue.
That what I would suspect to start with.
