Default Retrieving Diagnostic code help

hello all, i have a 2005 tribute that just this morning when i started was running rough and the check engine light came on is there anyway for me to retrieve the code without a scanner or am i forced to put myself at the mercy of auto zone?

lol, Just let them retrieve the code and post it here. They generally try to sell you something and you get no refund if they are wrong. It is probably an ignition coil though. Do yourself a favor and buy a complete set on Ebay for the price of one at a parts store if that is the case.

well i disconnected the negative battery cable just to see if a computer had a brain fart and apparently it cleared it for now took it out for a little drive and no issues so hopefully thats the end of it or i could have had moisture somewhere and it finally dried out who knows at this point im just glad it runs!
