Default Gear failure on 2002 Tribute

I didn't have any warning light, shaking, jerking or whatnot prior to the sudden and total failure of automatic transmission shifting into gear. It would only click in Park gear but not click into any other gear. Car starts up fine, transmission fluid is full, there's no leak undercarriage. It just will not move because it cannot click into gear.

I'm going have to tow it (hopefully before the city does), but I was hoping to fix the car enough to drive it home. Anyone have this problem and be able to resolve it without doing an expensive replacement of the transmission system?

Do you mean the shifter wont come OUT of Park? If thats the case check your brake light switch or brake lights.
