Default Daytime Running Lights gone crazy

My 2001, 4cyl, 5spd Trib, which runs great, has developed flickering daytime running light syndrome. They flicker like emergency lights. I was stopped by a cop the other day who asked me if I was having problems (maybe he thought my mother in law was kidnapping me).

The problem goes away when I turn on the headlights, but it's a drag to have to do that all the time. Any ideas about what the problem is???

Default RE: Daytime Running Lights gone crazy

Had an 2001 that had the same problem. DRL module needed to be replaced, cost me 100 bucks part only. Found it up above the steering column under the dash close to the firewall. It got really hot after it had been flashing for a few minutes. It has two sets of black connectors, cannot remmember which one, but I unplugged one of them and the headlights worked fine but DRL did not work at all, nor did my lights flash anymore. I did this just until I had time to install the new DRL module. Tight fit! I always knew when they were flashing because I got a lot of brakes slammed on in front of me and a lot of wierd looks, some waves of thank-you from on-coming traffic (signal for a speed trap ahead here in Alberta) Good luck, hope this helped.
