2004 Mazda Tribute v6 Hard Starting
Hi
I am a newbie to this site, and own 2 Mazdas, Mazda Tribute and Mazda 6 both 2004. I got a great deal on the Mazda Tribute, $6700, it has 157 000km, or 94 000 miles and was well taken care of.
Eveything is great with the Tribute except after I start it and it warms up, if I shut it off and wait 30 min to an hour, so the engine is still warm, it has a hard time starting again.
I have tried waiting 5s with the ignition at half way and the panel lights to go out and it still doesn't start right away. Although, when its cold it starts in less than 2 seconds, when warm can take up to 5seconds or longer.
I have checked the plugs and they are farily clean looking, although I could not check the 3 plugs in the back of the engine, they are hard to get at.
I also noticed in town I get bad gas mileage, on one tank the Tribute goes on average 200 miles, straight city driving. What doesn't make sense to me is Mazda put the same size gas tank in the v6 Mazda Tribute as my 2.3Mazda 6, 55 liters. I have to fill up every week with the Tribute because the gas tank is so small.
Any ideas are appreciated? I can do somethings myself with the Tribute, but don't have a heated garage so when the winter comes I would rather take it too my mechanic.
