I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute LX (6 cylinder). I just resolved a problem two weeks ago with my battery not working thanks to a very corroded terminal, had the terminal replaced, and the car once again started. However, I noticed a new problem a couple days ago which I don't think is related, but I'm not very knowledgeable about cars so I'm not sure!

When I'm stopped (at least in Drive or Park. I'm not sure about Neutral), my car will make a small shudder every minute or so. The RPM needle changes a small amount with the shuddering, which leads me to believe it's some sort of engine issue. I checked the oil, but it was fine. While I'm driving, there's no shudder at all, and the car runs fine.

I have an appointment with a mechanic at home (I'm at college at the moment), and unfortunately the trip home is going to be six hours. I was wondering if anyone knew any possibilities for what could be wrong, and was also wondering whether I have to worry about my car not making the trip home.

It could just be the AC compressor turning on then off, most cars drop a slight amout of RPMs and shudder a little when it kicks on.
