I am looking at a rx8 on a car lot. The battery died from leaving a dome light on. When he jumped the car the security system says it's locked and the alarm goes off and the car won't turn over. He doesn't want to take it a few hours away to the dealer to get it reset. Said he'll sell it cheap if I take it but I want to hear it run. Anything I can do to get it to run and bypass the security system?

 

No it has to be reset by a dealership. Some locksmiths can do it if they have the correct tools. You would have to call around to verify.

 

I've never heard of this happening. What causes this?
