Buying the RX-8
I'm considering buying the 05 RX-8 (60k Miles) But I have been doing some research on maintenance. It seems to be a VERY temperament car. Cold starts, hot starts, adding oil every other time you gas up the car.....Engine issues that are never ending........I came here to get some answers before I check of the RX-8 Completely. Can someone help me with this issue??
Thank You.

Well, first, they don't like ethanol. Ethanol makes the combustion chambers hotter than normal. This weakens the spring pressure on the apex seals and leads to loss of compression. You can add Marvins mystery oil to the gas each fillup to counter that. They inject oil into the combustion chamber so they will use oil. Some make oil if the compression is low (gas). They are easy to work on. You can yank the engine out of one in an hour. They can't handle being overheated even one time. Checking the fluids and checking for leaks is very important on those. All in all they are a good car if you understand them and are willing to open the hood every few days.

That's kinda why I'm going with an '05 instead of getting a '68-'72 American car where you NEED to do that all the time. To me, it just seems to be a waste of time. I do thank you for the info. Curious. If I found a RX-7 Turbo, wouls I be looking at the same type of issues??
