Default New ACT clutch, burning smell

I just let someone else work on my car for the first time so I could make an auto x coming up. He installed an ACT SS clutch and SR flywheel. I smell burning clutch when taking off. Is this normal for the break in period? The line I got from rx7.com was kinked, so the stock line is still on and the clutch grabs quickly. My dash lights no longer function. He caught one of the wires that tap into the ash tray light for my gauges in the shifter. If he screwed up the install, I would not be suprised in the least. I just hope he didn't permanently short something out with my lights or misinstall my expensive new clutch. This is the last time someone else touches my car.
