Default Wiper fuse blows

Greetings, new forum user here.
My 19 yo Daughter bought herself a 2000 Protege a few months ago. I replaced the radio about 1 1/2 months ago. I used a Metra wiring harness adapter. Other than that no work has been done on the car.

Before she drove to Vermont last weekend, she told me her wipers weren't working. I checked the fuse, blown, had her replace it and the wipers worked fine.
She got home from VT, and the wipers don't work, and she told me she had to replace the fuse again on the way home(I gave her a spare).

I was hoping that the experienced Protege owners could point me to some common trouble spots that would cause the wiper fuse to blow. Before I go tearing things apart.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

PS she also had to have the clutch line replaced in VT, life lesson.

If the part that moves with the motor and is connected to the wipers is corroded or not lubricated, they will be hard for the motor to run and eventually cause a fuse to blow. I would spray some lithium grease on the elbows etc. of the wiper mechanism. You didn't say if the wipers are fast or kind of slow. It could also be a short in the wiper switch on the steering column (we hope not) so I would look under the dash to make sure a wire is not touching something it should not touch.

Thanks for some ideas to check, but I found the problem. The washer pump was shot, when the washer was turned on, it blew the fuse. I replaced the pump, it came out in peices, and now it works fine.
I will lube the linkages, I'm sure they need it.
