Default clutch question

I picked up a 2000 protege lx with 152k on it. It needs a clutch.
Question is can the trans come out without pulling the engine also?
Is there any threads on here that can help?

yes the tranny can come out without pulling the motor. you just need to pull the axles and drop the tranny out of the bottom.

I did alot of searching and read many posts. It seems you really know what your talking about with these cars. Thanks for the advise. Any surprises when I do the clutch? Is there a pilot bearing?

From experience what other items should I change while the tranny is out of the car?
I see the rear engine mount is a bitch to get out. Is this better accessed when the tranny is out?

the rear engine mount isn't a whole lot easier to get to with the tranny out. the only thing that really makes it any easier to get to is pulling the intake manifold.
