the dash lights may just be the lights themselves or bad wiring. i would look around and see if the car looks like it has been under water. if it has there should be rust on the interior of the car and possibly condensation in the lights. if not, i say to just pull the gauges out of the dash and see if you can find the lights.

on the stalling, i think we need more info. does it jump when it stalls? does it just die out slowly? i'm guessing that since there are no dash lights, there is no CEL, so i would work on that first then see if there is a CEL. a lot of things depend on a diagnosis.

probably not the bulbs on the gauge cluster since there is alot of them.
checking the wiring would be really tough
you said no fuses seem to be busted. are there fuses missing?
usually on the panel of the fuse box it will have one that says "room" or "instruments"
I am not 100% sure on which one it is ( find babyhuey he can tell you) but anyhow one of those fuses run the cluster
does it stall when its turned on and idling? or just after being on the road and stopping?
does the stall go away when you apply just a little bit of gas?

i'll check the fuses again. the engine idles low when i put it in drive. and when i drive and put my foot on the brake to come to a complete stop. the enging will idle low and sometimes come back up other times it dies. giving it some gas does help but not for long

sounds like an IAC to me. fairly common. i would just clean the IAC and see if it runs any better. cheap and quick fix.

Check and double check and maybe even just replace the fuse labeled TAIL in the underdash fuse box. If this fuse is blown or missing you will not only loose your dash illumination lights but also the exterior running lights. These are all of the exterior lights that come on when you turn the headlight switch to first click only.

that hasn't crossed my mind until just now. check your dimmer switch and roll the handle around both ways. don't feel stupid if this works because, on my other car, i drove for about 3-4 days before i realized that.

Rear lights/brake lights don't work. Hello, I have a 1999 mazda protege 1.6 . Last year, I got in a wreck and since then there have been electrical issues happening. Last week, I replaced the AC compressor, and replaced both of the belts. Although the AC works, these are the issues that I'm still having issues with and I can't figure it out.

1.) Dashboard lights don't work (fuel gage, spedometer, gas reader, headlight/brights)

Note: sometimes when I reverse (only when in reverse and the headlights are on) the fuel gage will briefly work, and allow me to see my fuel level.

2.) Rear lights don't work
3.) Brake lights don't work
4.) Turn signals don't work
5.) Hazards do work in the front only but not in the rear

note: after the wreck, I replaced the driverside turnsignal light casing and driverside light casing.

Any tips to help guide me in the right directiom will be greatly appreciate, it is my only transportation and I've been driving for the last several months with no rear lights and turn signals. I can't afford to bring it to the shop, and they will charge a crazy amount. Thank you!
