Aircon compressor clutch issues
Hello all,
Not sure whether to put this under Protege or 323 so I'll try here to start with. Have a UK spec '02 BJ model 323 with the 1.6 16V ZM engine.
The aircon compressor has been grumbling for a short while and there's brown dust on the clutch and belt, so I assumed the bearing is starting to play up.
I'd like to get the parts in before I take things apart if possible, so does anyone have part numbers or sizes for the compressor clutch bearing? Can't see any model numbers on the compressor but it's got a KYB logo on the body.
Having said this, I took the belt off yesterday to check the bearing and initially it felt very rough and tight. I took the engine earth and compressor connection off to do another job and, while there is a very small amount of free play in the bearing, when I came to put the belt back on the pulley was spinning smoothly and freely. Is there a known issue with these dragging or not releasing fully for any reason?
Thanks
