Round spark plugs?

Hi folks, I picked up a '98 B2500 a few weeks ago and am just getting around to changing the plugs. However, when I expose them, they look like this: http://imgur.com/vnT7s (click the image for higher res) Round spark plug bases? How do I get those removed? I haven't found any sources for it and they're all like that. Just trying to figure out what's going on, any help is appreciated. Thanks -

to me they look like covers,have you tried popping it off w/screwdriver??
