Default Overheated shut down won't start back up. Help

My 1999 Mazda b2500 2.5l overheated on the way home. The temp gauge never read hot and it shut off now it will not start back up. I checked the oil it is not milky. I checked the radiator and there is no oil in it. What is my problem?

Let it cool down completely. Try to start it, if it doesn't start get a compression test. Doesn't sound promising.
