Looking at buying an '88 B2200
Good day lads, new here to the forum. Like the subject says I'm looking into buying an '88 B2200. Just wanted to know if there is any particular trouble spots I should be wary of. To my knowledge these are fairly dependable trucks. I believe this motor is has a 2BBL carb on it if I'm not mistaken. It's a 5 speed manual, 2WD, doesn't have air, and is a "Cab Plus". Any insight and tips etc. would be greatly appreciated
thanks guys

RE: Looking at buying an '88 B2200
They are good trucks, and I've had my '88 B2200 Cab Plus since 1994 (and can afford to drive anything). So it's definitely a choice to me. Like anything of its vintage, there are potential issues. Weaker spots (as they age) are ignition switch, stock carb, fuel level sender (fix it by cleaning and bending contact, don't replace), and when replacing the clutch cylinders or brake master cylinder I advise getting one with lifetime warranty. For me, it was one of the best decisions I've made automotive-wise. Stuff like radiator, engine, transmission, alternator, rotors, drums, etc. are all original on mine.

Nice little truck indeed. The body was in very good condition for year and being from Canada with our harsh winters this is obvious a big factor. It was equipped with an automatic choke and it failed apparently and the owner had decided to put in a manual choke which is kind of alarming.....tinkering with the carb like that.
