Default Leaking front seal on B2000

Is it a big or small job to replace the front seal on a B2000.
Some days it leaves a flood on the pavement, others a megre drip.

There's a camshaft seal and a crankshaft seal up front. They are the same part number. You need to know how to change a B2000 timing belt - if you know that, not too tough.

The big center bolt on the crankshaft needs to come off for the crankshaft seal (and get properly re-torqued), a big 21mm socket.

It kind of depends on the year but on my 1987 the entire front end had to come off so I did the timing belt at the same time. You may want to consider replacing the rear main if you are already in there as a new seal may cause pressure on an old one nearby(part of the same system).

Yes the front does have to be taken off. Rear seal sounds like a HUGE amount of work also.. Yes / No?

For rear seal, engine or transmission must be removed. Leak at rear can also be oil dripping from mechanical fuel pump, valve cover gasket, cam plug.

Front seals: a little more work than doing a timing belt/water pump. Be sure to tighten that big 21mm crankshaft bolt to the correct torque though, so you don't ruin the crankshaft keyway (that bolt does not need to be removed for just a timing belt or water pump change).
