hows it. new to mazda forums. just the other day i picked up a 89 mazda b2600i from my friend for only $300. it runs 4x4 works get plenny rust but for $300 cant complain. its running now but the motor is making a loud noise while running. other techs have told me it is chain slap and i should replace the timing chain and guides. could this really be the case? any quick fixes just to keep the truck running for now? what other motors are compatable to swap in? will a z24 fit? please any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

 

timing chan and guides sound like it could be the problem. other than the fact that its a pain in the neck to do the timing its a rather inexpensive repair if you have some time and skill.
