Alright, so I'm not the best mechanic in the world, nor am I very good with cars in general, but my dad has been helping me with my 1996 MX6 that's been sitting in his garage for 5 years. Everything is going smoothly, however we can't figure out what the hell this part is for (circled in yellow). I can't find any diagram that labels it on the internet or in the mechanic book we have for it.

What the hell is it?
