My daughter's boyfriend has a 1993 mx-6 that when you start it up, the idle races to 2000 and then flucuates between 1500 and 2000 when the clutch is pushed in. Thanks for any help.

 

He has had it checked out at a local shop but they were unable to find anything. They replaced the distributor because it stalled out but it was doing this before it died out.

 

check your vacuum lines, especially the one that connects to the intake piping. they are known to get old and crack and will start leaking. also have the iac (it is on the bottom side of the tb, its a round black canister looking thing.checked out and make sure it is connected.
