love car has great power sounds great fuel mileage is awesome but was going to houston raceway park got into it with a gt going about 50 mph downshifted to 2nd rpms tagged near 78000 took gt but afterwards got a nasty noise kinda of like a clanking growling noise it sounds stronger about where the timing chain is but can't think of anything that would be affected in that area would like to know if it could be a lifter because it sounds stronger on the side closest to the passenger cabin but the other side has that same sound also when car is first started the noise isnt heard but once it idles it is heard noise speeds up and gets louder with rpms any help would be greatly appreciated dont have the money to take to mechanic have minimum mechanic skill thanks

 

HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THAT. IT WAS INTERMITANT AND THE DEALER TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. TOOK IT TO A SMALL REPAIR GARAGE AND HE NEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN I TOLD HIM WHAT IT SOUNDED LIKE WHEN IT WAS CLANKING. MINE HAS A TIMING BELT NOT A CHAIN BUT THE NOISE WAS CAUSED BY THE TIMING BELT TENSIONER.
