Default 1994 MPV drinks a lot

Hi,

I bought recently this nice and comfortable minivan. It has run 113k miles, and is in v.good shape. I am almost happy with is. The engine is the 3.0 V6 type. Automatic, optional 4x4 transmission.
My only problem is the milage. It easily drinks about twice the expected. I thought it is between 20-25 miles per gallon - depending on the driver, but finally it ends up between 10 and 16 mpg (in town or highway). Originally I thought it can be easily repaired and I'll have the perfect car.
I have got checked the engine. The compression is fair in all cylinders, the sparks are brand new, and good type, the air and the fuel filter are new. Air mass intake sensor, ildle switch working well. Transmission, brakes OK. Finally they replaced the oxygen sensor which was really out of order, and promised, that it will solve everything. No change whatsoever. Except the thickness of my wallet.
Maybe somone has already run into this kinda problem and can suggest a sipple solution.
Thanks in advance.

The review I just researched stated 15C/19Hwy for the 2WD.
The MPV is a big, heavy vehicle, a truck really, w/a V6 and automatic. And w/4WD you"re notliable todo better than that.

Thanks Virgin1 for the prompt answer.
I understand, that this is not a really economy-car, and the 3.0 V6 engine vith the automatic tranny is more hungry, that a normal family car.
I would compromise the mentioned 15C/19Hwy milage, but it is much more! It drinks 10 sometimes. And the 4WD cannot be the reason, since I practically never use it. It's switchable and the car runs with 2WD all the time.
Thats whz I thought that the extreme high consumption is maybe a regulation problem with the engine. Either mechanical or electrical. Some vacuum tube clogged, or a sensor not working well. Maybe someone can suggest a point where I can start from.

Even w/the 4WD deactivated there is the extra weight and drag from all those components too.
Injectors not spraying well anymore? It's hard to say where to begin, really?
