Default 2000 mpv rough idle/jumping

Ok so I'm kinda new at this so pls bear with me. I have a 2000 mpv that that check engine light came on a while ago. Van was driving fine until about 3wks ago. The engine jerks/jumps while in gear When it is in park it still runs bad. It sputters/ jerks. You can hear it in the exhaust. Van drives fine when accelerating until stopped. The rpm's are very low and the needle moves between 500 and a little lower. It seem like it wants to shut off but doesn't. The codes are p1170 o2 bank 1.. p0300 random misfire... p1173 o2 bank 2... p0171 bank 1 too lean. Changed the coil pack the other day and that wasn't the problem. Unplugged the MAF while running and it ran fine, but the battery light comes on and obviously you can't drive with that unplugged. So, cleaned the MAF and still nothing. Took the air filter out and there is a noise coming from the airbox almost like a popping or blupping sound. Have no idea.Trying to figure out what this is. It's driving me crazy. Can someone please help!!!!

Default Fix the idle problem

Hey, I just fix my 2000 mpv. I had the same exsact problem. The problem is the intake manifold gasket top and bottom. When I remove it there were real bad. I got the diagram of how to take out and install back on. It took me about 4 hours but it's worth to do it your self cuz it's expensive to get done. To cheak it get some carbonator cleaner and spray around the seals and if it changes the idle that's what it is. I know how it is trust me I was real frustrated with this problem.

Hi Manny,

Thanks for posting the diagrams. Would you happen to have the FUEL INJECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION Diagram? (01-14-16) I want to make sure I do this right.

Thanks again.

Hey, Manny, you seem to know ur car! I have Mazda MPV 2000. Over heated and took it to mechanic. He says it is "oil cooler", a part that has a coroded attachment to a hose, that leads to radiator. He is looking for used part, but new one is $300! But I have never heard of "oil cooler". Have u?

Yes, there is an oil cooler, it is where your oil filter screws in. There are 2 coolant lines (from the radiator coolant system) that run to/from in.

Better late than never. Someone might actually need to know...
