Hello, I need some advice.

I ordered a new rack and pinion to replace the one on my 2002 mazda millenia s. The factory one had play at one of the joints inside the boot where the tie rod connects to.

I removed the sway bar mounts, the lines, the rack and pinion mounts and all I had left was the ridged sleeve that connects to the steering column. Well I used a punch to move it up and free the R&P but I wasn't able to push it up far enough.... well I had to put everything back together again.

If someone knows how I can remove that sleve and complete the job I'd appreciate it!!
