Default Millenia 2.3 S 1998 Transmission...

Hello Mazda forum users. I have a millenia 1998 2.3L V6 Supercharged which it has a transmission problem (no reverse gear), and I'm planning to buy a used transmission but the one that I found on internet it's from a 1997 2.3 S . Are 1997 and 1998 transmissions the same? Is the 97's transmission going to fit in my car with no modifications? Any help will be greatly apreciated.

where are you? there is a 99 in wichita falls, texas. guy wants only 350 for the car. most of the good stuff is gone, but the engine has less than 10k on it. he has invoices for the reman(3800) engine. trans is original. going to the junkyard in a short while. it was in a front end, and it got totaled. he bought it back and parted it out.

Hello Keninn, thanks for the reply, I live in Los Banos CA. How much does the guy want for the transmission only? and Is there any way to contact him? Thank you in advance.

he has no way of pulling the engine or the trans. besides, what i was saying is that if you are going to change the transmission, it is almost the same labor to pull BOTH. this way, you get a fairly new reman engine(9k) AND a trans. you can probably sell your old engine for more than 350 bucks. i was just there 2 weeks ago, and got some stuff off the car.

Thanks again Kennin for the reply. That would be a great idea, but I don't know how much would cost everything. First, I would have to hire somebody to pull the engine and transmission out and bring them here in california. Do you have any idea how much would cost me? Thank you in advance.

i have NO idea. the car is in his back yard, no solid base, just grass. if i could get it, i would have. we have 2 99's, so a spare engine/trans would have been great.

You're right Kennin, but what do you think about my question: a 1997 millenia S transmission will fit in my 1998 millenia S with no modifications? Do the millenias from 1995 to 2002 use the same transmission?

dont know. i think the trans was changed around the 96my. online dealer shows the same trans 95-01, BUT-it could be that the latest transmission will fit/function for earlier cars, but if a trans is from an early car, it may not work in a later car. try to get the trans control module, too.
