Default MAP Sensor/P1524

I have codes for the MAP Sensor and P1524. I replaced the MAP sensor, which seemed to resolve it, but within a few days the codes were popping again. I have a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. Can someone comment on how best to approach this problem and/or if the two could be related?

Thanks!

what engine? and you should trace your vacuum lines, and look for a leak in the map sensor circuit.
