1995 Millenia S
Just bought the car. It has 98000 miles on it, 2000 miles that I put on. Car ran fine at first, but now the TCS light comes on after about 5 minutes of driving it. If I shut the car off while coasting and then restart it, I get another 5 minutes before the TCS light comes back on. It is a pain since the engine won't go over 2500 RPM with the light on. Can anyone help? The local mechanic has never seen an engine like the Miller before and is clueless. I am deathly afraid of taking to the dealer because I have limited funds.
Thanks in advance.

the car is going into limp home mode. there is a row of solenoids in the back of the engine, near the firewall. close to the egr valve. the second and the forth is the vent and vacuum. these control the abv, which controls boost. when they are dying, they fail when hot. when dead, you get the limp home from the get go. you need to ohm them, good is 26-29, from about 30 on up, they are no good. also, if they read 0, also no good. and make sure you use an analog multimeter to measure. the next problem is in the vacuum system. there is about 21 feet of vacuum line, and several "tee" and "Y" connectors. the connectors are made of plastic, and they die early. if the vacuum/vent system leaks, boost cannot be controlled, and the pcm will put the car in limp home. if the check engine lite is on, codes 1525/1526 and 1540 should be there. if so, then definitely check the solenoids, and i guarantee you the vacuum lines/tees need to be changed. if you do it all at once, it is labor intensive, and expect to pay for at least 3 hrs, maybe 5. a lot of stuff has to come off to get at all the lines. at the same time, i would go ahead and replace the solenoids, too. they are about 62 bucks each online. only a dealer will have them.
