Default First trip with my 2010 Miata gt to the dealer for an oil change??

I could use a little help. A few months ago I bought a beautiful 2010 GT 47,000 miles. I will have to get an oil change eventually and I would rather take it to a dealer than a local guy I don't know. I have a few questions

I would like to get synthetic oil going in this car. Anything to keep me away from going back there as long as possible. The car has non synthetic oil in it now. Is that ok? Anything I should tell them to do besides change the oil and filter?

I do hear a little squeak where the latch is for the release. Its not bad but I hear it. Any quick fixes I could do?

Those are my main concerns. I have not taken this car in for any service and I hate bringing it in!!

I got a new battery on it from the start. Anything else that may be due around the mileage that should be taken care of?

Thanks for your help. I know these are rookie questions

I'm guessing your in North Carolina? (NC) Have a look in your owners book, it will tell you what's due. Has the car been serviced by a dealership previously? Look in the log book/service book.

Question

I bought it from a dealer. Yes I am in NC. The is nothing in the service book. I know the basic things were done oil change and air filter. The book says 60,000 maintenance which I am not at yet. But what about changing to synthetic oil? It is not in there now. I can just tell them to switch to it?

Yes you can tell them to switch. It's not recommended on rotary engines.
Good synthetic info, as well as different brands, read: https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/gen...antages-30407/

Question

Is my mazda a rotary engine?? I just want to keep this thing out of the shop for the longest amount of time. It is my 2nd car so the miles are kept pretty low on it. If it ever gets warm I will use it more

No yours isn't a rotary, they were in the RX-7's and RX-8's.
Yours is a MZR 2.0L DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine.
From: http://www.miata.net/faq/brochures/2010/specs_MX5.pdf

Here's a 12 rotor engine!: The 12 rotors, displacement measures 960 cubic inches.
